Thursday 30th June – NA Feature Matchup Tips – OpTic vs FaZe

It’s that time again. The twice a season treat that never fails to deliver a fantastic match. With just 3 or 4 matches left for each of the teams in the Call of Duty World League, OpTic Gaming will be taking on FaZe Clan once again, as the battle for first place enters its closing stages.

So, for some context to today’s match, who have we got competing for the top spot this time around? First up we’ve got FaZe Clan in 3rd place, sitting on a 12-7 record with 3 games remaining. Two of those matches should be easy wins versus Cloud 9 and Team SoloMid, but it’s today’s match with OpTic that will make or break the squads hopes of reaching the top of the table. Next up we have Team EnVyUs in 2nd place, with a 12-6 record. Importantly, Envyus have 4 games remaining, two of which are against teams destined for relegation and the rest against mid table teams. Sitting on top, we’ve got OpTic Gaming. With a 14-5 record, OpTic have slipped somewhat from their Stage 1 performance, though how much of that has been due to so-called “connection issues” is hard to judge.

Let’s take a look at today’s match. To say this is a tough match to call is an understatement. As with every OpTic match, you should never make the mistake of underestimating the squad, or their ability to take a match under the toughest of circumstances. The past match-ups also favor OpTic. The last time these teams faced off in stage 2, the green wall took the game 3-2. Keep in mind, unlike many other teams, both of these rosters have remained untouched throughout Stage 2. It’s certainly not tough to make the case for OpTic Gaming. They have shown time and time again that they’re among the greatest teams in Call of Duty history, and that hasn’t changed. There might be some other factors to keep in mind tonight, however.

OpTic Gaming have recently, on both Twitter and YouTube, complained about consistent connection issues whilst playing in the CoD World League, going as far as forfeiting matches in the past few weeks. These struggles can be seen in their most recent performances, only pulling off a 3-2 win over bottom place 100 Thieves, and falling 3-1 to 9th place Luminosity Gaming. With this in mind, there may be a strong case for FaZe Clan taking the game, given how strong we know this squad to be. Sure, OpTic are a great team. But with these recent struggles, we’re not sure we can recommend putting your money behind a team who have yet to show much in the way of promise this week.

Recommended Bet: FaZe Clan (2/1, Bet365)
